Paul Butler - Butler Boards

image0.jpeg

I create handcrafted end grain cutting boards from tamarack a wood native to the Atlantic provinces. End grain boards are self-healing from the cuts from knives. The wood is anti-fungal and antimicrobial. They are treated with heavy mineral oil, coconut oil, and beeswax.

I live by the sea on Prince Edward Island with my wife Ivy Rose. We have a blended family of 6 adult children and 11 grandchildren (so far, more to come). I love spending time in my workshop especially when my grandchildren come up with a project that we can work on together. It is sheer joy to watch the grandkids working alongside you creating a board for Mom or Dad, or a birdhouse. It is so much more appreciated knowing that their daughter or son had a hand in the creation.

Every board is different and I love trying to design unique patterns using the flow of the grain and the colors of the wood.

Caring for your board:

  • Wipe clean after use with a damp cloth.

  • Never immerse the board in water.

  • Wipe with 100% heavy mineral oil.
